Tollund Man is an early Iron Age bog body that was found in 1950 in a peat bog in Denmark. When the body was first found, it was assumed that it was the victim of a recent murder as it seemed so fresh and well preserved. When the police were told about the find they were certain that it was a bog body so they contacted the local museum and went to visit the site. The people from the museum soon realised that an important historical discovery had been made and excavation began.
